Bristol Zoological Society appoints its first ambassador

Bristol Zoological Society has appointed Richard Clarke as its first official ambassador.

He has been a member of the society’s Board of Trustees since 1994 and chairman for the past six years.

Richard is also Commercial Director of Somerset-based Orchard Groundcare which provides landscape planting and management services to the renewable energy sector.

Dr Bryan Carroll, chief executive of Bristol Zoological Society, said: “Richard has an in depth knowledge of our work and a deep commitment to our aims, as well as a long family connection going back to the very beginning of the Society.”

He said the role of ambassador was to be a strong advocate for the Society and would involve addressing groups and attending Society events together with connecting the Society with a range of people.

Dr Carroll said: “As a shareholder, Richard would be back to visit anyway, but now he will also be an Ambassador for us.”
