Bristol Zoo gifts and experiences

We offer a range of gift experience ideas, perfect for animal lovers or for those friends or relatives who have everything! When you buy a Bristol Zoo gift experience you will be directly contributing towards the upkeep of the animals and supporting the conservation of threatened species.

Meet & greets

Make your visit extra special; Meet and Greets are unique, one-on-one experiences. They last for half an hour and you can choose to meet meerkats, penguins, red pandas, fruit bats, giant tortoises, lemurs or, new for Summer 2015, bugs.

Your experience will include:

  • Entry into the Zoo for you and a guest*
  • An introductory briefing by one of our animal keepers
  • Going behind the scenes of an animal enclosure
  • Coming face to face with the animals
  • Complimentary drink in the Coral Café
  • The opportunity to ask our keepers any questions you may have.

*Please note your family member/friend will not be able to join you in any of the enclosures, if they would like to take photographs this is allowed. If you are purchasing a meet and greet experience for two people then entry to the zoo is included for both participants only.

The zoo Meet and Greet experience is available for adults and children over the age of 6 years old, however children between the ages of 6 to 15 years old must be accompanied by a spectating parent/guardian.

Cost

Meet & Greets cost £60 for one person or £90 for two people to take part (inc. VAT). The maximum number of people that can take part in a Meet and Greet is two.

New for Spring 2015 - Bug Keeper Experience

The Bug Keeper Experience inlcudes entry to the Zoo for you and a friend and will include Beetle larvae hunting, caterpillar and egg hunting, working with the reef tank including feeding the cleaner shrimp and mantis feeding.

Availability: The Bug Keeper is experience will take place on a Saturday 11am - 1pm and is available for adults and children over the age of 6 years old, however children between the ages of 6 to 15 years old must be accompanied by a spectating parent/guardian.

Junior Keeper Experience

The perfect experience for any little animal lover! This experience gives a hands-on behind the scenes view of what’s involved with looking after animals at Bristol Zoo Gardens for children aged 6 – 15 years.

Your experience will include:

  • Complimentary entrance into Bristol Zoo Gardens for the child and an accompanying adult.
  • A one-to-one, 2 hour session with our Junior Keeper host including food preparation, animal feeding, housekeeping and animal enrichment
  • The chance to work with some of the following animals*: meerkats, bugs, reptiles, fur seals, penguins, lorikeets, archer fish and lemurs**
  • A souvenir t-Shirt, certificate and activity book

*Please note that work with no animal is guaranteed. Bristol Zoo reserves the right to change the animals at any time if deemed necessary. ** Morning sessions start at 10:30 and include bugs, reptiles, meerkats, penguins, lorikeets and archer fish. Afternoon sessions start at 14:30 and include bugs, reptiles, meerkats, fur seals and lemurs.

Availability
Sessions take place on Saturdays, Sundays and some Thursdays and Fridays during school holidays.

Cost
The Junior Keeper Experience costs £90 per child and includes entrance to the zoo for an accompanying adult. The maximum number of children that can take part is two. Please note. That only one adult [parent or guardian and no other children] may accompany the Junior Keeper during their experience. Any other guests accompanying the junior keeper will be given group rate discount prices.

During the session you’ll have plenty of hands-on experience of cleaning enclosures, feeding, and animal enrichment. Keeper for the Day

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a zookeeper? Now is your chance to find out. This experience is 1-2-1 and lasts for a full working day; it starts at 8:45am and finishes approximately 4:45pm. The Keeper for the Day experience is available to individuals aged 16+.

Your experience will include:

  • Complimentary entrance into Bristol Zoo Gardens for yourself and a friend
  • The opportunity to work on all four animal sections: Mammals, Birds, Ectotherms and Presentations including species such as African Penguins, Ring-Tailed Lemurs, Livingstone Fruit Bats, Golden Headed Lion Tamarins and many more!*
  • A complimentary hot lunch in the Coral Restaurant
  • Souvenir gifts of a specially designed fleece and baseball cap.

*Please note that work with no animal is guaranteed. Bristol Zoo reserves the right to change the animals at any time if deemed necessary.

Cost
Keeper for the Day costs £250 for one person to take part which also includes for an additional adult entrance into the zoo.

Keeper for the Day takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and some Sundays. Please note that this experience is very popular and weekends are fully booked until August 2015. We advise calling early to avoid disappointment.

Cancellations and Amendments
We have a no refund policy for all experiences at Bristol Zoo. If you wish to rearrange or cancel your experience please see our policy below.

  • Changes made up to 8 weeks prior to the experience date incur a £20 change and can only be made once.
  • No changes to the date are allowed less than 8 weeks before the experience.  
  • No refunds will be made for cancellations. If you wish to cancel your experience date, you will be placed on a cancellation list and will be given the opportunity to rebook onto a date in the future should someone else cancel or not attend their experience. A £20 admin charge is applicable for this service.
