Monkey Jungle
Monkey Jungle
Bristol Zoo’s Monkey Jungle opened in July 2006. This fabulous exhibit provides first-class living arrangements for lion-tailed macaques, black howlers and De Brazza’s monkeys and incorporates a Lemur Garden that offers visitors the chance to view red ruffed lemurs in a barrier-free environment.
The Monkey Jungle has been designed as an immersive forest environment to offer visitors a sensory experience as they walk through the exhibit. All of the planting was specifically chosen to replicate natural habitats and a special sound system replicates bird and animal movements above head height to give an authentic feel. Each species has both an indoor and outdoor element to their enclosure and the De Brazza’s monkeys can also choose to visit the Gorilla Island by passing through a hollowed log bridge.
