One of the world’s biodiversity ‘hotspots’ is the Philippines, which consist of more than 7,000 islands and contain many unique species of wildlife. The range of species includes some only found on one island, and others only found on a few. Yet many of these species are close to extinction due to an expanding human population and demand for land.
We’ve been involved in two main ways:
• Providing funds to protect the last remaining forest on the island of Cebu.
• Starting a conservation breeding • programme for the critically threatened Negros bleeding heart dove.
