The Gloucestershire Gladiators visited Bristol Zoo Gardens yesterday (Sunday 6th June) to promote their Friends Provident t20 games.
Gloucestershire players, Hamish Marshall, Abdul-Kadeer Ali, Chris Dent, Steve Snell, Anthony Ireland and new signing Ian Butler were at the zoo promoting their t20 matches and offering some cricket coaching.
The club were at the zoo throughout the day and the crowds of visitors were all invited to test their skills against the Gloucestershire players. The Gladiators “cricket area” in the zoo, offered visitors the chance to get the autographs of the players and to win tickets to one of the t20 matches.
The cricket skills net session provided cricket fans, young and old to receive some cricket coaching from the professionals. Many of the under 16s who took part won t20 tickets by hitting 4’s or 6’s.
The Gladiators have previously used Guerilla Cricket to promote t20 cricket and although the players were not let loose with the gorillas they were put face to face with some of the Zoo’s very own crickets! Not all of the players were as brace as you would expect!
Harriet Moon, GCCC Marketing Manager said, “Our location at Bristol Zoo Gardens was fantastic and was a great opportunity to speak to local families about t20 cricket. We would like to thank Bristol Zoo Gardens for inviting us and providing the perfect accompaniment for promotion this wild, action packed form of cricket.”
Mike Kemp, corporate development manager at Bristol Zoo Gardens, said: “It was great to have players from The Gloucestershire Gladiators visit the Zoo at the weekend and many of our visitors enjoyed receiving coaching tips and having a go in the nets. We wish the team all the best for their fixtures this season.”
The Gladiators play 8 home FP t20 fixtures this season, 2 at Gloucester on 11th and 13th June and then 6 games at Bristol. Tickets are great value; especially with advance family tickets (2 adults & 2 under 16s) for only £36. For all the fixtures and to purchase tickets visit www.gloscricket.co.uk or call 0117 9108010.
