Education at Bristol Zoo Gardens

 A unique place to learn

As well as being a leading visitor attraction, with over 450 species of animals in a stunning garden setting, we’re also an award-winning conservation and education charity. This means we’re in a unique position to teach people about biodiversity, conservation and the natural world.

We offer education sessions to groups from Early Years to degree level, from special needs to children’s clubs, on over 40 subjects. Many sessions have downloadable topic-centred notes for teachers to help with ideas on a Zoo visit.

Zoolympics trail

Groups out in the Zoo can choose from a selection of self guided trails.

Outreach

If you can’t make it to the Zoo, but would still like your group to benefit from an education session, we offer a ‘Zoo to you’ outreach service.

We also have animal factsheets that give detailed information of over 100 species we keep in the Zoo, as well as information on habitats, conservation and other zoos. (see Educational resources)

Spiderphobia courses

We offer regular spider and snake phobia courses to help people who want to get over their fears.

Schoolchildren at an education session

If you’re interested in taking a course, you can study Animal Sciences or Horticulture with Filton College, based in the Zoo.
