Birds of prey experience

The bird of prey experience will resume in the spring of 2012.

Try your hand at falconry with our fantastic new birds of prey experiences. This experience gets you closer to birds of prey than ever before!

On arrival you will be greeted by our local falconer, Kevin Riach, who has 23 years experience in every aspect of falconry.

You shall then proceed across to the weathering lawn were a team of hawks, owls and falcons await their daily exercise. After a brief discussion about the birds you will be off into the flying ground to put these magnificent birds through their paces.

Location

This event takes place at our Hollywood Towers estate (not far from Cribbs Causeway - directions can be found on the right hand side of this page).

Prices

There are three different experiences available:

£30 – 1 hour (taster), max numbers - 5

This session introduces you to some of the basics about birds of prey, and involves flying with one species

£85 – 3.5 hours (1/2 day), max numbers - 6

This half day session includes flying all the birds available on the day, tying of the falconer's knot, handling, training and a Q&A session with our resident falconer Kevin.

£160 – full day Max numbers - 6

This full day session is split into two halves. The morning session includes flying all the birds available on the day, tying of the falconer's knot, handling, training and a Q&A session with our resident falconer Kevin. The afternoon will be spent on a hawk walk through the grounds flying two Harris hawks through the trees.

One spectator per participant is welcome free of charge. Extra spectators are welcome by advanced booking at a cost of £10 each.

Please note that lunch is not included and visitors are encourage to bring their own lunch.

Any questions on the day will be answered and time will be given for any photo opportunities or possible video. 

Experience is valid for one year from date of purchase.

Minimum age is 14 years. Customers need to be a minimum of 1.2m in height & they must be in good health, reasonably fit & not suffer from any nervous disposition regarding birds. Full terms and conditions can be found here.
