Field research

Research for Conservation Programme seeks to make a significant contribution to species and habitat conservation by studying the conservation ecology of endangered species. We aim to gain a better understanding of how these species cope with the alteration of their natural habitats in order to be able to plan effective conservation measures.

Research in Madagascar

Bristol Zoo Gardens is a member of the Association Européenne pour l’Etude et la Conservation des Lémuriens (AEECL), which maintains a field research station on the Sahamalaza Peninsula in north-western Madagascar. We regularly send PhD and MSc students to Sahamalaza to study the ecology of critically endangered lemur species in the area.
