How is Bristol Zoo involved?
Events
Bristol Zoo is excited to be a part of the 2008 Year of the Frog, and is planning events throughout the year. The campaign will run until October 2008, and will involve activities, talks and fun events for everyone to join in with:
The year’s activities kicked off with a Global Leap Frog on New Year’s Eve. It was a massive event that started in New Zealand and progressed to the west coast of the USA through the day.
Proceeds from the summerfestival ‘Boogie for Brizzle’ will also support the Year of the Frog.
This years summer campaign, 'Frogs and Friends', will focus on amazing amphibians, with games and activities for all the family. Find out more about amphibians, and learn what you can do to help.
There will be lots more happening too! Look out for new events coming up soon.

Breeding and Conservation
Bristol Zoo Gardens keep and successfully breed many amphibian species. In the future we hope to install a bio-secure amphibian pod, where we can breed several species safe from the threat of the chytrid fungus. We hope to populate the Bristol Zoo amphibian pod with endangered lemur leaf frogs from Costa Rica and the endangered golden mantella frogs from Madagascar.
Fundraising
There are lots of ways you can raise money and directly contribute to saving a species from extinction. See our Year of the Frog fundraising page for some great ideas!

Thank you to those of you who visited our 'Frogs and Friends' tent at the zoo and took part in the free activities. Here's a selection of some of your art work.
