How can I help?

As part of the Year of the Frog, we will be asking visitors to do what they can to help amphibians. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Make you garden frog friendly! Come along to Bristol Zoo and find out some great ways to make your garden more frog friendly. As you walk around the Zoo, take a look at the improvements we have made to our ponds to attract amphibians, and don't forget to stop and listen to the pond talk. If you want to find out how to create the perfect froggy garden now, have a look at the 'froggy factsheet' below.

Become a member of a frog friendly organisation, for example Froglife or the British Herptelogical Society.

Find out more about the wonderful world of amphibians by taking part in all of the 'Frogs and Friends' activities that will be happening at Bristol Zoo during the school summer holidays. You can race your friends and family in froggy races, make some colourful amphibian masks and then relax with a game of newts and crosses!

Avoid spreading the chytrid fungus around the countryside, by making sure you stick to paths when out walking, and cleaning your shoes thoroughly on your return.

Use environmentally friendly products! Amphibians can be affected by the chemicals we use every day in our houses and gardens. Reduce the amount of pollutants released into the environment by using frog friendly products.
