Training

The veterinary department offers training schemes. The number of places on each training programme is limited and many are booked a year in advance.
Vets from all over the world visit our facilities for periods of 1-6 months to train with our veterinary team. The focus of the training will be to provide students with key skills for managing conservation species both in captivity and in the wild. Those attending are encouraged to complete a research project resulting in publication in the scientific literature.
Vet undergraduate students attend the veterinary facility for periods of 2 weeks to 12 weeks as part of their undergraduate training. The students attend rounds, assist with the examination and treatment of patients and are expected to complete a small project whilst at the facility.
Sharon holds an honorary position at Bristol University and so teaches at the vet school. To date Sharon has published over 30 papers and articles and contributed to seven books.
