Facilities
The veterinary area has a central treatment area and laboratory, an animal quarantine wing, and administrative space.
An imaging suite with state-of-the-art equipment such as radiography (x-ray), ultrasonography and endoscopy allows the vets to see inside the patients and diagnose disease, check for fertility and monitor pregnancies.
An on site laboratory allows rapid diagnosis and is vital to the success of treating our rare and endangered patients.
Animals are also visited in treated in their normal housing areas throughout the Zoo.
- More than 1000 radiographs (x-rays) are taken a year
- More than 50 Zoo patients receive ‘house-call’ medical visits from the veterinarians each year.
- Around 200 animals each year to be anesthetized for vital examinations and medical procedures.
